The 2014 Alto Adige Sauvignon Passion is redolent of lime, honeydew melon and fresh tomato leaf. The background notes are on the green side with a touch of freshly milled green pepper corn that adds spiciness. The mouthfeel is relatively lean and the fresh acidity leaves its mark.

The 2012 Alto Adige Sauvignon Passion bursts from the glass with floral perfumes and beautiful, straight-shooting intensity. There’s nothing subtle about the aromas, but the delivery also shows finesse and elegant self-control. Of the many expressions of Alto Adige Sauvignon Blanc, Passion is among the most focused and finely tuned.

This aromatic Sauvignon does an excellent job of portraying those crisp, green and herbal tones you usually associate with the variety. Kiwi, tomato leaf, sage and grassy notes are tonic and clean and the wine is very crisp and refreshing.——M.L.(11/15/2008)—— 87
