A somewhat rustic stye of C?tes de Castillon made from a blend of 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Franc, the 2005 De Laussac has some aggressive tannin, but loads of chocolaty, meaty notes along with black fruits and spice. The tannin seems slightly elevated, but there is plenty of fruit, and the wine cuts a relatively robust, full-throttle feel across the palate. If more harmony and finesse develop, this could go up in score. It should easily last another decade or more.
