In 1999, Sang des Cailloux introduced the Vacqueyras Cuvee Doucinello, a blend of 70% Grenache, 20% Syrah, 7% Mourvedre, and 3% Cinsault aged completely in foudre. The 2000 Vacqueyras Cuvee Doucinello is softer and less concentrated than the Cuvee Lopy. Like its 1999 counterpart, the dense, saturated plum/purple-colored 2000 offers a big, spicy bouquet of black fruits intertwined with underbrush, licorice, and truffles. Full-bodied, with ripe, glycerin-imbued black fruit, and low acidity, this rich Vacqueyras should drink well for 5-6 years.Whatever the name, I would not hesitate to purchase any Sang des Cailloux Vacqueyras. They are all terrific efforts, and not that dissimilar from each other.Importer: Kermit Lynch Wine Merchant, Berkeley, CA; tel (510) 524-1524
