The 2013 Vosne Romanée Les Hauts de Beaux Monts, which comes from oolite bedrock with silt on top at the upper reaches of the incline, has a ripe, rounded bouquet with black cherries and blueberry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied, soft and supple with nicely judged acidity and an easygoing blueberry and cassis finish that neatly carries the 30% new oak. Simple, but effective, especially for those that like a slightly glossier Vosne-Romanée.
