The 2005 Olmaia (100% Cabernet Sauvignon) is a classy, elegant red. In this vintage the varietal characteristics are a touch subdued; instead the wine offers racy aromatics wedded to a core of silky, perfumed fruit, with a long, refined finish that falls just a touch short of outstanding. Still, in 2005, this is a terrific effort. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2017.
