The 1991 Nuits St.-Georges-Les Chaignots offers an excellent nose of earth, truffles, and peppery black fruit. Sweet, long, and well-endowed, this rich, concentrated red burgundy possesses enough tannin to support a decade of aging. It may merit a higher score as additional complexity emerges. Impressive!
The daughters of the late Georges Mugneret appear to have made better 1991s than 1990s. The colors are deeper, and the wines' richness and concentration of fruit are more evident, no doubt because of the tiny yields.
