The 2005 Reserve is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot. Inky purple, it offers aromas of smoke, scorched earth, tar, blackberry, plum, and licorice. Layered and firm on the palate, the wine is dense and powerful, full-bodied, and structured. It has the stuffing to evolve for up to a decade and will provide pleasure from 2015 to 2030. Since I saw him last year, Mike Januik has moved into a splendid new winery in Woodinville which he shares with Novelty Hill Winery for whom he makes the wines. Current production is at 8000 cases.
