The 2014 Chassagne Montrachet Village, which sees just a 5% brushing of new wood, has a light, grapefruit and melon-scented bouquet. The palate is crisp and saline on the entry with a keen thread of acidity, quite linear in the mouth with green apples and a touch of spice on the finish. It just needs a little more harmony to come through and certainly more persistence. I was hoping for more from this village cru.
