Zuccardi’s flagship wine is the 2003 Zeta of which 1200 cases were produced. It is a blend of 60% Malbec and 40% Tempranillo aged for 14 months in new French (for the Malbec) and American (for the Tempranillo) oak. Purple-colored, it has a complex perfume of violets, mineral, tobacco, saddle leather, cassis, plum, blueberry, and blackberry. This leads to a plush, medium-bodied wine with mouth-filling fruit, sweet tannins, spicy red and black fruit flavors, and a very long finish. It will evolve for 3-5 years and drink well through 2025. Familia Zuccardi is a family owned winery started in 1963 when they planted the first vineyard in Maipu, then a desert region, followed in 1973 by a second vineyard in Santa Rosa, another desert. Familia Zuccardi has also been a pioneer in the introduction of non-indigenous varieties into Argentina. These are bottled under the Textual label.Importer: Adam Sager, Winesellers Ltd., Skokie, IL; www.familiazuccardi.com
