The outstanding 1999 Volnay Les Fremiets, produced from 20-year-old vines, was also tasted twice. Violets, red cherries, and candied raspberries can be discerned in its aromatics. On the palate, this is a powerful, red and black cherry as well as blackberry-flavored wine. It is refined, intense, muscular, and utterly harmonious.
