The 1994 Riesling Kabinett Ried Steinmassel is dominated by its steely, flinty, mineral personality. It reveals good ripeness, crisp acidity, a beautiful texture, and a dry, long finish. Tightly-knit and in need of some bottle age, this wine should last for 7+ years. One of Austria's most renowned producers, Brundlmayer's 1994s offer intense levels of fruit in a dry, medium-bodied, highly extracted, gorgeously well-delineated style. The only sweet wine is the 1994 Riesling Auslese Zobinger Heiligenstein. The beautiful purity and precision of the Brundlmayer wines make them among my favorite Austrian offerings.
