The 2004 Gran Arzuaga is composed of 95% Tinta del Pais (the local name for Tempranillo) and 5% Blanc del Pais from 80+-year-old vines and was aged for 24 months in new French oak. Made in a more international style, it offers a glass-coating opaque purple color, aromas of pain grille, pencil lead, mineral, lavender, espresso, and blackberry, This leads to a medium to full-bodied, elegant wine with ample sweet, spicy fruit and good balance but which is in need of a bit more depth and concentration. Quite forward, it can be enjoyed now through 2020.
