Tasted blind at the Burgundy 2012 tasting in Beaune. The 2012 Chassagne Montrachet 1er Cru les Chaumées has a lifted, perfumed and floral bouquet with scents of yellow flowers complementing the dried peach and vanilla scents, perhaps more Meursault-like in style. The palate is crisp and fresh with well-judged acidity, subtle notes of orange peel and pear, decent weight on the finish though not the greatest persistence. Even so, this is an enjoyable Chassagne-Montrachet, albeit one without the breeding of Colin's Chenevottes.
