A terrific bargain, the 1995 Lirac Cuvee de la Reine des Bois (a blend of equal proportions of Syrah, Grenache, and Mourvedre) reveals a deep purple color, a smoky, herbes de Provence, cassis, and licorice-scented nose, peppery, concentrated flavors, no hard edges, and a lush, ripe, nicely layered finish. Low acidity and sweet oak give this wine a precocious appeal; it should drink well for 4-6 years. Importer: Kysela Pere et Fils, Winchester, VA; tel (540) 888-7939
