The 2007 Twin Valley Vineyard Chardonnay is sourced from Clone 95 vines, handpicked, whole cluster pressed with no sulphur, straight to barrel matured in 16% new French oak for 11 months with less malo to keep the acidity. This has a captivating nose, a Chardonnay with real personality with very subtle notes of passion fruit, nectarine and tinned apricot. The palate is medium-bodied, good acidity and balance with a sense of natural harmony, building nicely to a measured tropical, minerally finish. Lovely wine! Brian Bicknell is continuing to invest in Mahi since ceasing his consultancy work in 2006. The winery was still being constructed in January but thanks to the late harvest it was completed a week before the grapes were picked.
