The 2005 Casa Balaguer is predominantly Tempranillo with Monastrell, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot included in the blend. It was aged in barrique for 1 year and bottled unfiltered. Purple-colored, it delivers a fragrant nose of cedar, clove, menthol, black currant, and blueberry. On the palate, the wine is firm, structured, and slightly compact at the moment. It will require 2-4 years of cellaring to round out and should then drink well through 2020.
