Displaying a saturated color, the 2001 Zinfandel Big River (14% alcohol) reveals woody characteristics along with high tannin, an austere, angular finish, and a hole in the mid-palate. If it fills in, it will deserve a score in the upper eighties, but at present, it looks good and smells good, but falls short on the palate. Drink it over the next 3-4 years. Tel. (707) 938-1960
