A blend of 95% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc, the 2012 Bonalgue offers plenty of chunky, fleshy, succulent black cherry and black raspberry fruit judiciously touched by background oak and hints of roasted Provencal herbs as well as forest floor. Full, round and supple-textured, this hedonistic Pomerol fruit bomb should drink nicely for a decade. One can’t say enough about Pierre and Jean-Baptiste Bourotte, who consistently make an over-achieving wine from one of the lesser renowned terroirs.
