The ruby-colored Corton-Bressandes offers a beguiling nose of sweet red fruits, wild mushrooms, and underbrush-like scents. This rich, oily-textured, dense, powerful, medium-to-full-bodied, and deep wine is jam-packed with layers of candied blackberries, cassis, stones, and minerals. I tasted this wine from two barrels, the younger cask revealed traces of Asian spices and the older barrique touches of chalk, and dried smoky minerals. Both casks contain a wine of admirable depth, purity, and length. Projected maturity: 2000-2006.
