This light-to-medium ruby-colored Volnay Clos des Chenes offers a nose of sweet cherries and a light-to-medium-bodied and silky palate with complex herbal, stone, mineral, and black cherry flavors. Projected maturity: now-2003.
Yields were high in 1996, on average 45 hectoliters/hectare or more according to Bouley. The wines are fined and filtered (though exceptions are made for the premier crus that don't "need" filtration). My impression is that these wines should be drunk early.
