The 2004 Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc (80% Clairette and 20% Roussanne aged in demi-muid) shows a fabulous mix of richness and freshness. Ripe peach, lemon curd, citrus blossom and distinct minerality all emerge from the glass, and this medium-bodied, fresh and elegant white deserves a classy meal. It should evolve gracefully over the coming 4-5 years.
Only her third vintage, proprietress Isabel Ferrando produced a bevy of outstanding wines in 2004. Pulling from vines located in the warmer, southern portion of the appellation, both of these reds have uncommon levels of fruit and texture, and for the most part, are at full maturity.
