I was blown away by the performance of the 2011 Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc, which exceeded all my expectations. While deep notions of spiced honey mark the nose, alongside ripe pineapple notes, this medium to full-bodied blend of Clairette and Roussanne shows remarkable freshness still, with a silky, elegant mouthfeel and a long finish redolent of beeswax and lime zest. I would drink up at this point, but I would have originally counseled against holding it even this long, so you never know.
