The Corton Les Bressandes is an astonishingly rich wine with sensational depth and length, a huge bouquet of raspberry fruit, toasty new oak, and flowery scents. It has outstanding balance and seems to explode on the palate because of its concentration. It comes from an old 1.3-acre vineyard with many of the vines planted in 1920. Do not miss it!
For those who say all burgundy is expensive, Cornu's prices are hard to beat, particularly in view of the quality of his 1985s, which were bottled unfined and unfiltered at the insistence of his American importer, Neal Rosenthal.
