Although the 2001 Chateauneuf du Pape Les Sinards had already closed down, it revealed a saturated dark ruby color, a rich perfume of roasted peanuts, kirsch liqueur, pepper, and spice box, and medium-bodied, tannic flavors. Dominated by its Grenache component (70%), with the rest Mourvedre, Syrah, and Counoise, it should be cellared for 2-3 years, and drunk over the following 10-12.
