The medium to dark ruby-colored 1997 Volnay Santenots is from vines that averaged 30 years of age, located in the lower sector of this vineyard. Its black cherry syrup aromas lead to a large, broad-shouldered, and firm personality, filled with red and black fruit flavors, as well as licorice and Asian spices. This medium to full-bodied wine is powerful, concentrated, and saturates the taster's palate. While delicious today, it has the potential to evolve through 2007.
