One of the finest generic Bordeaux estates, Reignac is producing wine of classified growth quality due to a committed proprietor and strict selection. The excellent 1996 exhibits a deep ruby color, as well as a sweet nose of black currants intermixed with minerals and toast. The wine possesses a fine texture, excellent purity, well-integrated acidity and tannin, and a surprisingly long finish. It is hard to believe this is only a generic Bordeaux. Drink it over the next decade.
