Regrettably, only 50 cases of the magnificent 1995 Chevalier-Montrachet were produced. A tight but floral and minerally nose gives way to a stunningly well-delineated, silky-textured, full-bodied wine. Within its refined character, readers will find complex, layers of minerals, stones, flowers, white pepper, baking spices and touches of ginger bread.. This spectacular wine's profound finish is a show stopper. It will be at its peak between 2002-2015. As my scores and tasting notes indicate, I was tremendously impressed with the quality of Prieur's wines. What had been an average-to-good estate has rapidly become one of Burgundy's finest domaines. A final note: I was given the opportunity to taste this estate's 1996s, both in white and red, and was blown away by their quality. More on them in a future report.
