This winery has proven to be a consistent performer with respect to its non-reserve cuvees, which I prefer to their more ambitiously styled, as well as more expensive cuvees of Chardonnay and Syrah. The 1991 Chardonnay offers about as much flavor as one can find in a Chardonnay for $10 a bottle. The huge nose of buttery tropical fruit and subtle oak is followed by a fleshy wine, with rich, honeyed, melon and apple-like flavors, medium to full body, a highly satisfying, fleshy texture, and a surprisingly intense, crisp finish. Drink it over the next year.
