The 2012 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Estournelles Saint-Jacques comes from the family's parcel on the other side of the wall from Clos Saint Jacques that was planted in 1981. This has a more mineral-driven bouquet here than the Aux Etelois–red cherry fruit, cranberry and a dash of white pepper. It is reserved, but very well focused and sure to open up in bottle. The palate is medium-bodied, tensile, minerally, nicely poised with a sense of transparency coming through on the shimmering finish. Give this 3 or 4 years in bottle and you'll have a divine Gevrey on your hands.
