Why can't wines such as this be made in 15,000-20,000 case quantities? This is a limited production (about 100 cases) cuvee produced exclusively for the American importer. A blend of 80% Syrah and 20% Grenache, and aged 18 months in small barrels, of which 45% were new, it is a superb, explosively rich, opaque purple-colored wine with a knock-out nose of blackberry liqueur intermixed with floral notes, toast, anise, and dried herbs. Full-bodied and marvelously concentrated, with well-integrated acidity and tannin, this dazzling wine demonstrates the heights that can be achieved in selected terroirs of the Languedoc-Roussillon. Already accessible, this velvety-textured wine should drink well for 8-10 years. Importer: Eric Solomon, European Cellars, New York, NY; tel. (212) 924-4949
