Felettig produced 400 liters of the 2019 échezeaux Grand Cru, and it's his best to date, blossoming in the glass with a deep bouquet of wild berries, plums, exotic spices, rose petals and bergamot. Full-bodied, layered and multidimensional, it's a deep, textural wine, with considerable concentration, lively acids and a broad-shouldered chassis of powdery tannin. Felettig laments that his holdings (located in lieu-dit Les Treux) were only planted in 2001, but already yields are declining precipitously as the rootstocks suffer in hotter, drier vintages.
