Louis Bernard’s 2013 Gigondas, which was still in barrel at the time of my tasting, is a medium-bodied, supple, charming effort that offers plenty of enjoyment. Mostly Grenache, with a smaller part of Syrah, it possesses classic notes of cedary spice (which is almost always present in wines from this appellation), kirsch, sweet black cherries and leather, light tannin and a clean finish. It will drink nicely on release and I suspect, evolve relatively quickly.
