The top Rueda 2019 El Transistor was cropped from a very healthy vintage that resulted in a wine with 13% alcohol and very good freshness. It fermented in a combination of barriques, foudres and concrete vats and matured there for a period of some six months. This is a lot more expressive and open than the Basa—varietal, clean and aromatic. The palate has an austere texture, with the classical bitter twist in the finish. 13,734 bottles produced. It was bottled in June 2020, a mere couple of weeks before I tasted it.
