Two bottles of the 1999 Chassagne-Montrachet Chaumees displayed the negative effects of sulphur. The first bottle had a completely muted nose. On the palate, it was pure, focused, and light to medium-bodied. It revealed minerals, lemons, and a long, crisp finish. The second bottle, having had the benefit of 24 hours of aeration, revealed pear, apple, spice, and mineral aromas. It was medium-bodied, broad, pure, concentrated, and fat, with loads of white fruits and minerals in its deep personality. Projected maturity: 2003-2010.
