The 2004 Barbaresco Roncaglie, a medium ruby, reveals dark red cherries, violets, tar, grilled herbs, smoke and subtle earthiness with a perfumed, vibrant personality. Although it offers excellent length one can't help thinking that an even higher level of quality should have been possible in a vintage of this pedigree. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2016.
