The 2004 Sagrantino di Montefalco is a beautifully delineated, precise wine redolent of flowers, sweet spices, herbs and dark red fruit. This is a fairly accessible style of Sagrantino, with little of the wildness sometime found in this quirky grape. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2014.
Scacciadiavoli is one of the older properties in Montefalco. The Pambuffetti family made its name in the food business over several decades, but these bold, racy offerings are proving that they are equally adept with wine. Consulting oenologist Stefano Chioccioli has overseen the production since 2003.
