The 2004 Gran Claustro is made up of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, 15% Garnacha Negra, and 15% Carinena aged for 16 months in new French oak. Opaque purple-colored, it sports a complex aromatic array of fresh herbs, olives, sage, and earthy black fruits. Medium to full-bodied with a sense of elegance, it has layers of succulent fruit, plenty of underlying structure, and excellent balance. It will deliver pleasure from 2012 to 2024.
Castillo Perelada is producing excellent wines from its vineyards in Emporda in the extreme northeast corner of Spain near the French border.
