The 2006 Gran Claustro is a blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, 20% Carinena, and 10% Garnatxa aged for 16 months in new French oak. Dark ruby red in color, it gives up aromas of wood smoke, graphite, lavender, soy, black cherry, and black currant. In the glass spice and black fruit flavors lead to a supple, balanced, smooth-textured wine that can be approached now although it will evolve for several years.
