Scavino's three 1989 Barolos are spectacular. The 1989 Barolo Cannubi is a legend in the making. Its spectacular nose of sweet black fruits, licorice, grilled meats, and smoky new oak is followed by a wine with immense richness, stunning opulence, a multidimensional personality, and a spectacularly long, well-delineated finish. Approachable now, it promises to drink well and even improve for another 15-20 years. These are the finest Barolos I have tasted from Scavino.
