The 2007 Amelia is a single barrel cuvee made from a special parcel of 100+-year-old Tempranillo vines. It was aged for 18 months in a new Darnajou barrel. Purple-colored, it proffers a compelling bouquet of sandalwood, mineral, Asian spices, truffle, black currant, and blackberry. On the palate it has superb volume, intensity, complexity, and density. Savory, suave, and pleasure-bent, it merits an additional 6-8 years of cellaring. This lengthy, pure offering will offer a drinking window extending from 2016 to 2037.
The first vintage of Dominio de Pingus, owned and produced by Peter Sisseck, was in 1995. The estate has been biodynamically farmed since 2000 and the wines are bottled without fining or filtration.
