Given my love affair with some of Domaine Marc Morey's Chassagnes, I was surprised not to be more enthused with the 2001 Batard-Montrachet. Produced entirely from estate fruit, it has demure aromatics and a tight, mineral-dominated personality. It reveals excellent flesh and depth yet appears to lack the concentration and ripeness of some of the Chassagne premier crus. Notes of quartz and alcoholic warmth make an appearance in the finish. Drink it over the next 6-7 years.
