Although closed, this 2001 (from a 4-acre, east-facing vineyard on Mt. Veeder) began to strut its stuff after extended aeration, so decanting is recommended. It is a tight but promising, saturated dark ruby/purple-colored Syrah offering a sweet perfume of plums, blackberries, and forest floor. This attractive, medium to full-bodied effort reveals admirable structure, moderately high tannin, and impressive depth as well as length. Give it 1-3 years of cellaring, and drink it over the following 10-12.Tel. (707) 253-0653
