Clos l'Eglise is produced by the influential and committed team of Alain Raynaud (Chateau Quinault l'Enclos) and Gerard Perse (Pavie, Pavie-Decesse, La Clusiere, and Monbousquet). It is an unfiltered blend of 70% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 15% Cabernet Franc. The 1999 is the first vintage handled by Raynaud and Perse, and is reminiscent of a Burgundian grand cru from the Cote de Nuits. It offers beautiful aromas as well as flavors of flowers and black cherries, an expansive, juicy texture, and exquisite lightness of being in a savory, long finish. It should drink well for 5-6 years.
