Beringer has produced this successful, sweet, botrytis-affected blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon for decades. The 2019 Nightingale is 84% Sauvignon and 16% Sem, aged in 55% new French oak (45% is second-use wood). It offers nicely balanced apricot and pineapple notes and is medium-bodied on the palate. Sweet without being overly so, it finishes with a touch of chalk-dust phenolics that helps it to avoid being cloying. The price given is for the standard 375-milliliter bottle.
