Don’t miss the 2006 Vieux Telegraphe Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc (20,000 bottles produced). Uncharacteristically dominated by a large percentage of Clairette, it exhibits an exotic tropical fruit scent interwoven with notions of spring flowers, crushed rocks, and white peaches. Fruit-driven, with good minerality in the background as well as surprising structure, this lovely white competes favorably with the estate’s brilliant 2005.
The Brunier brothers would like me to include all of their wines under one entity called Vignobles Brunier, but that has caused confusion among subscribers trying to find the reviews for Vieux Telegraphe, Domaine La Roquette, and Domaine Les Pallieres. So, with apologies to the Bruniers, I am returning to the old format.
