As usual, the 2008 Vieux Telegraphe Chateauneuf du Pape blanc is one of the top white Chateauneuf du Papes of the appellation. A blend of 40% Clairette, 30% Grenache Blanc, 15% Roussanne, and 15% Bourboulenc, it reveals lots of minerality as well as notes of lemon custard, honeyed nectarines, quince, and white currants. Composed of 40% Roussanne, 30% Grenache Blanc, and the rest Bourboulenc and Picpoul (all from young vines), the 2008 Telegramme Chateauneuf du Pape blanc exhibits plenty of citrus characteristics in its elegant, medium-bodied, fresh, lively personality.
