An equal-parts blend of Bourboulenc, Clairette, Grenache Blanc and Roussanne, with only the last matured in barrique (the others stay in stainless steel), Giraud's 2020 Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc Les Gallimardes features hints of toast accenting notes of ripe pear and pineapple. Medium to full-bodied, it's ripe and round in the mouth, then firms up and gains focus on the lengthy finish, adding notes of lime zest and brine. Tasted twice (once blind), with consistent notes.
