The 2005 Shiraz Reserve was sourced entirely from estate fruit and was aged in 85% new oak. The wine is a glass-coating purple/black with an alluring perfume of toast, bacon, smoked meat, blueberry, and licorice. Deeper and richer than the “regular” Shiraz, it also has enough structure to merit 4-6 years of cellaring. The wine’s finish is long and pure. Henry’s Drive is owned by Kim and Mark Longbottom with Kim Jackson as winemaker. This task was previously handled by Sparky and Sarah Marquis but in this, the second vintage after their departure, Henry’s Drive has not missed a beat. Bright and open-textured, with pretty raspberry and currant flavors at the core, lingering nicely against finely polished tannins.
