The 2006 Brunello di Montalcino is a relatively easygoing, light-weight wine best suited to near-term enjoyment. Dark cherries, tobacco, licorice and new leather are among the nuances that are found in this feminine, understated Brunello. Firm yet nicely integrated tannins accompany the fruit through to the finish. Camigliano’s Brunello is a perfect example of the dilemma that faces Montalcino. This is a perfectly delicious wine, but in a great vintage, Brunello should aspire to a higher level. The estate gave the Brunello 2 years in cask. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2024.
