The 2009 Lo Mon is a blend of 60% Garnacha, 15% Carinena, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Syrah from a mixture of young and old (80-year-old) vines. It undergoes aging in one- to four-year-old barrels. The nose is reticent at first, demanding coaxing from the glass, eventually revealing blackberry, hawthorn and lavender aromas that are well-defined and will hopefully develop greater vigour. The palate is full-bodied with succulent ripe black fruit on the entry. It is primal but well-defined and quite sinewy towards the finish, which gently grips the mouth. This has good aging potential. Drink 2014-2025+.
